On Friday, August 2, 2024, at approximately 7:08 p.m., Rowlett Police Department officers responded to a shooting at a residence in the 6100 block of San Marino Drive, Rowlett, Dallas County, Texas. Upon arrival, officers located a 44-year-old Hispanic male victim on the ground, bleeding from a gunshot wound to his leg. The victim informed officers that he had been shot by a resident in the nearby area.
A Rowlett Police Officer applied a tourniquet to the victim's upper leg, and Rowlett Fire Department medics transported him to a local hospital. The victim's injuries were non-life-threatening.
Officers quickly surrounded the residence in question and established a perimeter. Announcements were made for the occupants to exit the residence. Two individuals, a 47-year-old Black male and a 47-year-old Black female, complied and were detained without incident. The male, identified as Craig Marty Mazique, a Rowlett resident, was arrested for outstanding warrants.
The Rowlett Police Department Criminal Investigations Division (CID) took over the investigation and gathered evidence linking Mazique to the shooting. The incident appears to have stemmed from an online purchase meet-up. After the victim met with Mazique to purchase a motorcycle, Mazique allegedly shot the victim and took his phone. The victim identified Mazique as the suspect.
Mazique has been charged with Aggravated Robbery, in addition to the outstanding warrants for which he was initially arrested. The Rowlett Police Department reminds the public to exercise caution when connecting with online buyers or sellers and to consider using the designated safe trade zone at the Rowlett Police Department for such transactions.
