A Paris Police officer, patrolling near the pavilion at Evergreen Cemetery, found 66-year-old Thomas Duane Taylor lying on the ground surrounded by empty alcoholic beverage containers. Upon contact, it was determined that Taylor was heavily intoxicated.
Taylor was detained and subsequently began making threatening statements towards the officer, stating that he would "kill the officer and his family." Taylor was taken into custody for public intoxication and making a terroristic threat to a peace officer or a judge, which is a felony.
At the police department, Taylor continued making threatening statements and caused a disturbance by beating on the walls and windows of his cell.
