On Friday, August 2, 2024, at 6:53 PM, Hopkins County deputies arrested Ruben Lozano of Cumby for Online Solicitation of a Minor. The Hopkins County Sheriff's Office was informed that Lozano had been communicating with an individual that he thought was 12 years of age.
Deputies met with the complainant and reviewed electronic text messages exchanged between Lozano and the complainant. The messages indicated that Lozano had agreed to engage in sexual contact with someone he thought was 12.
The deputies noted that the conversation was sexually explicit and that Lozano had attempted to arrange a meeting with the minor. Lozano did acknowledge to the deputies that he was aware of the minor's age before sending the messages regarding sexual contact. He also confessed to driving by the proposed meeting location in an effort to see the minor. Lozano was arrested and transported him to the Hopkins County Jail. His bond was set at $100,000.
