On July 30, 2024, at approximately 2:30 PM, deputies from the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office Courthouse notified Narcotics Investigators Jonathan Barrios and Jonathan Daille of a subject in the lobby suspected of carrying narcotics. Upon arrival, the investigators, along with Henderson County District Attorney’s Office Investigator Kenneth Slaton, identified the individual as James Bradford Campbell. Campbell was at the courthouse to register for probation related to a previous drug offense. During the investigation, it was revealed that Campbell had arrived at the courthouse with a baggie of methamphetamine. He was taken into custody and transported to the Henderson County Jail, where he was booked for possession of a controlled substance.
Later that day, at approximately 6:20 PM, Narcotics Investigators Jonathan Daille, Jonathan Barrios, and K-9 Deputy Edwin Rodriguez conducted a warrant service in the 100 block of Laird Lane within Athens city limits, targeting wanted fugitive Michael Dziema on weapon charges. Deputy Rodriguez located Dziema hiding under a pickup truck in the driveway. Dziema was taken into custody, and suspected methamphetamine was found on his person. He was also transported to the Henderson County Jail and booked for possession of a controlled substance.
Both Campbell and Dziema are currently awaiting arraignment.
