On July 24, 2024, around 9:17 p.m., Sulphur Springs ISD Police officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Fuller Street in Sulphur Springs for a reported assault. The victim reported that a verbal argument with the arrestee, identified as 42-year-old Daniel Kane Kearney, escalated into a physical assault. The victim sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital.
Kearney was later located and taken into custody due to the threat of further violence. Kearney was transported to the Hopkins County Jail and booked without further incident. His bond for the Assault Causing Bodily Injury to Family Member charge was set at $25,000. Additionally, Kearney was found to have an open warrant for Theft of Property Valued Between $150,000 and $300,000.
