19-Year-Old Man May Face Second Capital Murder Charge After Death of Second Victim

A 19-year-old man, Malaki Scott Beckham, may face a second capital murder charge following the death of a second victim in a robbery and shooting that occurred on July 6. Beckham is currently held at the Bi-State Detention Center with a $2 million bond. Nicholas Webster, 19, the second victim, passed away on July 18 at CHRISTUS St. Michael Hospital, as reported by the New Boston Police Department. Beckham is anticipated to face an additional charge of capital murder in connection with Webster's death.

Beckham already faces a capital murder charge related to the death of Princeton Washington, 19, who was killed at the scene of the shooting in the 300 block of North Lindsey Street. At the time of the incident, Beckham was serving a 10-year felony probation term in Bowie County for a 2022 robbery and a five-year probation term for a 2021 credit/debit card abuse case.
