On July 22, 2024, just before 10 p.m., Longview Police Officers responded to a shooting at the Townhouse South Apartments located in the 5500 block of W Loop 281. Upon arrival, officers found an adult male victim with a gunshot wound and life-threatening injuries. The victim was transported to a local hospital by Longview Fire Department EMS. The incident is believed to have stemmed from a disturbance between known parties, with the suspect, 18-year-old Tavyon Stephenson, shooting the victim before fleeing the scene. The victim, identified as 21-year-old Isaiah Dickson, later died from his injuries. An arrest warrant was issued for Stephenson, charging him with Murder.
The search for Stephenson led authorities to Marshall, TX, where Longview Police were assisted by the Marshall Police Department. Stephenson was located and arrested around 1 p.m. on July 23, 2024, with officers from both departments involved. Marshall PD also arrested another individual with Stephenson on separate charges.
