On Saturday, July 20, 2024, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to 911 calls regarding a family disturbance in the 3700 block of FM 3459 in Onalaska, TX, which resulted in one family member’s death.
Upon arrival, detectives discovered Gerald Fields, 56, of Onalaska, Texas, deceased at the scene. Witnesses reported that a disturbance occurred between two family members, resulting in one dying from a single gunshot.
Sheriff’s Office Detectives, with assistance from the Onalaska Police Department and Texas Rangers Office, processed the crime scene and conducted interviews. Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 Judge Sarah Rasberry issued an order for an autopsy to be performed by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office in Houston, Texas.
The investigation is ongoing.
