At approximately 11:16 PM on Saturday, July 20, 2024, Gladewater Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call reporting a shooting incident at 220 S. Ferry St. Officers from the Gladewater Police Department responded to the scene, where they discovered Sheri Shanell Evans, a resident of the address, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Despite immediate medical assistance provided by the Gladewater Fire Department and Christus EMS, Sheri Evans tragically succumbed to her injury at the scene. The residence was secured, and the Gladewater Criminal Investigation Division responded promptly to initiate an investigation.
Johnny Mack Bowser, who was present at the residence when officers arrived, has been arrested in connection with this incident. According to Gregg County property records, the home where the murder was committed is owned by Bowser.
Bowser was taken into custody and subsequently transported to the Gregg County Jail, where he has been booked on charges of murder.
