On Thursday, July 18th, in a special called board meeting, the Sulphur Springs ISD Board of Trustees voted on staff raises and adopted a new, more competitive pay scale for all employees. Superintendent Deana Steeber, Ed.D. provided an update on the decisions made.
The new teacher and librarian pay plan includes a 5% general pay increase from the previous scale, resulting in a $2,625 increase for all teachers and librarians. Employees not included in the teacher and librarian pay scale will receive a 2% raise based on the midpoint of the new pay scale.
Any employee whose salary does not meet the minimum on the new pay scale will receive a salary adjustment to reflect hiring schedule equity. Additionally, all self-contained special education teachers, including those in life skills and behavior classrooms, will receive a $5,000 annual stipend. Dual Language Teachers with Bilingual Certification teaching on the Spanish-speaking side of the program will have their annual stipends increased from $5,000 to $10,000.
The Sulphur Springs ISD Board of Trustees and Admin Team are committed to improving pay and benefits for staff while maintaining market competitiveness.
