Driver Arrested After High-Speed Chase on Hwy 11 W

Alberto Sierra Sahouri

On July 12, 2024, a vehicle was observed by an Officer, traveling at a high rate of speed on Hwy 11 W near CR 4703. Radar confirmed that the vehicle was going 82 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour speed zone. As the patrol unit turned around to pursue, two vehicles veered into the ditch to avoid a collision with the speeding driver.

Despite reaching a speed of 120 miles per hour, the patrol unit initially struggled to catch up with the vehicle, which continued to pull away. The rear of the vehicle appeared lower than usual, indicating an increase in speed. The chase continued until the vehicle encountered traffic near CR 4706, allowing the patrol unit to catch up and initiate a traffic stop.

The driver, identified as Alberto Sierra Sahouri, claimed to be rushing to Commerce to pick up his daughter. He was ordered out of the vehicle and placed in handcuffs. It was subsequently revealed that Sahouri had collided with an SUV in Sulphur Springs before fleeing the scene. He lacked insurance and possessed an invalid operator license.

Sahouri was arrested for the charges and issued citations for speeding and leaving the scene of an accident. Further inspection of the vehicle uncovered additional citations for Driving While License Invalid (DWLI), Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility (FTMFR), and speeding issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) in Hunt County on May 10, 2024. Sahouri was transported to jail without any further incidents.
