On September 2, 2014, Mesquite Police responded to a report from a resident in the 3500 block of Moon Drive who discovered a female victim lying on the side of their house. The victim had been severely beaten, resulting in unconsciousness and significant injuries to her head and face. It was later determined that the victim, who is disabled, was also sexually assaulted.
Following the assault, a sexual assault kit was completed, leading to the identification of a male DNA profile that was entered into the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS), but no match was found at that time. Investigators conducted extensive neighborhood canvassing and numerous interviews to gather leads, but efforts did not yield substantial information.
The case remained a priority for the Mesquite Police, and over the years, various leads were pursued. Recently, through extensive DNA investigative research and collaboration with the Dallas FBI Field Office, a suspect was identified. On July 10, 2024, Mesquite Police, with assistance from the FBI, arrested 27-year-old Jorge Antonio Post of Dallas, Texas, who was 17 at the time of the offense.
Post has been charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Disabled Person, a first-degree felony, and is currently in custody. His bond has been set at $5 million.
The Mesquite Police Department expressed gratitude to the Dallas FBI for their partnership in the investigation.
