On July 8, 2024, around 6:20 p.m., Longview Police Officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 300 block of Margo St. Upon arrival, officers discovered a female victim who had been shot twice. Longview Fire EMS swiftly transported the victim to a local hospital where she received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
Following an intensive investigation, Longview Detectives identified 21-year-old LaQualon Hale as the suspect in the shooting. Subsequently, a warrant was issued for Hale's arrest on charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon - Family Violence. On July 10, 2024, detectives successfully located and apprehended Hale.
Authorities have clarified that the incident was domestic in nature. The Longview Police Department has taken the opportunity to emphasize available resources for individuals in abusive relationships. Among these resources is the Women’s Center of East Texas, which offers a 24/7 crisis hotline staffed by trained advocates reachable at 1-800-441-5555.
