Paris Police Make Significant Drug Arrest Following Routine Traffic Stop

On Friday, July 5th, 2024, Paris Police officers conducted a routine traffic stop in the 300 block of Tudor Avenue for a vehicle failing to display a license plate. Upon approaching the driver, identified as Casey Dajuan Sanders, aged 45, officers detected the odor of marijuana. Sanders admitted to recently smoking marijuana, prompting a search of his vehicle.

During the search, officers discovered prescription medications not prescribed to Sanders, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, a quantity of marijuana, and additional illegal narcotics. Sanders attempted to flee the scene on foot but was apprehended by pursuing officers.

While being transported to the jail, officers observed Sanders attempting to conceal something on his person. A subsequent search revealed more narcotics in his possession. As a result of the incident, Sanders faces charges including Possession of a Controlled Substance (three counts), Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Prohibited Substance in a Correctional Facility, and Evading Arrest or Detention.

The Paris Police Department continues to investigate the incident.
