Elderly Man Fights Back During Robbery and Assault in Paris, Suspects at Large

On the evening of Tuesday, July 2nd, at 9:24 pm, Paris Police officers were dispatched to the 300 block of South Main Street in response to a reported robbery. Upon arrival, they found a 69-year-old man hunched over, clutching his left shoulder and limping.

The man explained that he had noticed two young males riding bicycles in circles as he was withdrawing $500 from an ATM on the Plaza. According to the victim, the suspects approached him from behind in the 100 block of South Main and assaulted him. Despite fighting back and punching one of the suspects, the perpetrators fled the scene without attempting to steal any money.

The victim, who suffered from a scraped knee, facial scratches, and loose front teeth, was treated by Paris EMS at the scene before being taken to Paris Regional Health due to the severity of his injuries. The unidentified suspects remain at large, and the case will be further investigated as an offense of Injury to a Child/Elderly/Disabled with Intent to Cause Bodily Harm.
