Sulphur Springs Man Arrested After Stabbing Victim in the Back

On June 30, 2024, Sulphur Springs Police responded to a disturbance at the 600 block of Main Street late Sunday night. Witnesses reported a confrontation involving 67-year-old Robert Earl Ransom and another individual, resulting in the victim being stabbed in the back. According to police statements, after the incident, Ransom allegedly cleaned the knife used in the assault and concealed it inside the residence to obstruct the investigation.

Officers arrested Ransom on charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Tampering with or Fabricating Physical Evidence to Impair the investigation. He is currently held at the Hopkins County Jail pending further legal proceedings.
