Police Arrest Man for Drug Possession and Resisting Arrest in Paris

Stedmon Darnell Fentress

On Monday, July 1, 2024, Paris Police officers conducted a routine traffic stop in the 1200 block of N. Main Street after noticing a vehicle without headlights. During the stop, officers identified the driver as Stedmon Darnell Fentress, 31, and detected the distinct smell of marijuana emanating from the vehicle.

Upon further investigation, officers discovered a large plastic bag containing marijuana inside the vehicle, along with multiple smaller bags and a set of scales commonly used for drug distribution. Fentress, initially compliant, suddenly resisted arrest by attempting to evade officers, ultimately trying to escape through the driver’s side door.

With the arrival of backup officers, Fentress was successfully subdued and taken into custody. A subsequent search revealed additional illicit substances, including powder cocaine concealed in his pants and underwear. Alongside charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Marijuana, Fentress faces legal repercussions for Resisting Arrest or Search. Furthermore, authorities identified three outstanding misdemeanor warrants related to traffic violations against him.
