Potential Dam Concerns at Lake Livingston Dam Following Heavy Rainfall

The Trinity River Authority (TRA) has confirmed that the recent heavy rainfall and flooding in the Lake Livingston Dam's drainage area have adversely affected its spillway. This situation has prompted the declaration of a "potential failure watch" condition. This declaration requires ongoing monitoring and assessment of the spillway's integrity, alongside necessary repairs and remedial measures.

While there is currently no immediate danger of dam failure or breach, the TRA acknowledges the possibility, however remote. Day-to-day operations of the dam will continue as needed, with gate operations adjusting as conditions warrant. This declaration follows the TRA's approved Emergency Action Plan. The TRA remains vigilant in monitoring the spillway's status and will provide updates accordingly.
