Kaufman County Commissioners Approve Trial of Four-Day Workweek

Kaufman County Commissioners voted on Tuesday to implement a year-long trial of a four-day workweek with ten-hour shifts for the county’s Human Resources department. The decision follows successful implementations in other departments such as the Clerk’s office and the Precinct 1 road and bridge crew.

Judge Jakie Allen expressed optimism about the trial, highlighting the potential benefits of increased flexibility for employees and its positive impact on retention rates.

“Giving employees more flexibility and a three-day weekend is proven to help retention,” Judge Allen stated. “We have the best county staff in all of Texas, and we look forward to seeing the results of this year-long trial.”

The trial aims to evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of the new working model within the Human Resources department.
