On June 26, 2024, a routine traffic stop by a Hopkins County deputy led to the arrest of Christopher Brant Osbourn on drug-related charges. The incident occurred when the deputy observed Osbourn's vehicle traveling northbound on State Highway 154 South with expired registration dating back to 2018. After initiating a traffic stop on FM 1567 East, Osbourn exhibited signs of nervousness and confusion, including profuse sweating and difficulty maintaining eye contact.
Upon refusal of a vehicle search, Osbourn was detained, and a K-9 unit alerted officers to the presence of narcotics. Subsequent searches yielded a glass pipe and a hypodermic syringe containing suspected methamphetamine. Osbourn was placed under arrest and further searched, revealing additional crystal-like substances believed to be methamphetamine in his possession.
Osbourn was transported to Hopkins County Jail and booked on charges of possession of a controlled substance, weighing approximately 15.474 grams. The evidence was secured and processed according to departmental procedures.
American Towing assisted in impounding Osbourn's vehicle, which was taken into custody during the operation.
Osbourn's bond has been set at $65,000.
