On June 26, 2024, at approximately 12:40 a.m., Longview Police responded to a shooting at the Taco Bell parking lot located at 2553 Judson Road. According to employees on the scene, all workers were outside due to a power outage affecting the area. An unknown suspect approached the employees, attempted to rob them, and shot one employee before stealing a car from the location.
The stolen vehicle was recovered nearby, and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The Longview Police Department, with assistance from the Texas Department of Public Safety Texas Rangers, has been actively investigating the incident throughout the day. A person of interest has been identified.

UPDATE: On June 27, 2024, Longview Police Detectives served a Capital Murder warrant on 31-year-old Brent Leslie DeLuca of Gilmer, Texas. DeLuca was taken into custody without incident.
