Rowlett Police Resolve Standoff Peacefully After Hours of Negotiation

Kristopher Eugene Biediger

On Monday, June 24, 2024, at around 8:44 a.m., Rowlett Police responded to a 911 text call from a female victim in the 8100 block of Chesham Drive. The victim, who had a protective order against Kristopher Eugene Biediger, reported barricading herself in a bathroom while Biediger remained outside, claiming to have built a bomb the previous day.

Police established a perimeter and attempted to contact Biediger, but received no response. With negotiations unsuccessful, Rowlett and Rockwall SWAT teams were called in. Throughout the ordeal, dispatch maintained communication with the victim via text.

Negotiators eventually convinced the victim to exit through the rear of the residence at approximately 12:30 p.m., safely intercepted by SWAT members. After further attempts to persuade Biediger to surrender failed, SWAT resorted to breaching the residence around 3:20 p.m. and conducted a thorough search. Biediger was found hiding in a bedroom closet and taken into custody without incident at 3:22 p.m.

Biediger faces charges of a third-degree felony related to the incident.
