A Paris police officer engaged in a brief pursuit on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, after spotting a vehicle traveling at 100 miles per hour in the 2900 block of NE Loop 286. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver turned off their headlights and sped away, eluding the officer.
The pursuit was terminated when the officer lost sight of the suspect's vehicle. Shortly afterward, officers received reports of a one-car accident involving a vehicle matching the description of the suspect's near the 4200 block of Clarksville St. Witnesses stated the vehicle had been traveling at high speed before losing control and veering off the road.
The driver had fled the scene on foot before authorities arrived. The vehicle was towed from the scene, and investigators obtained potential identification information for the driver. The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
