The Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office is set to enhance security measures by introducing a full-body x-ray scanner in its detention facilities. This new technology aims to prevent contraband from entering the facilities, providing a way to detect hidden items such as weapons, drugs, and other prohibited materials.
Operators will receive specialized training in the operation and use of the security screening system. By thoroughly screening inmates, the scanners will help maintain a secure environment, reducing the risk of violence, drug abuse, and other contraband-related issues. This initiative is crucial for protecting the well-being of both detention staff and inmates, ensuring a safer and more controlled facility.
Sheriff Beavers expressed his enthusiasm about the new technology, stating that it will be implemented at no cost to the county taxpayer.
