A routine traffic stop on Highway 11 and County Road 4706 resulted in the arrest of Nakahless Dwight Dunlap on multiple drug charges.
A Hopkins County deputy initiated the stop after identifying a vehicle matching the description of one registered to a person with a non-valid driver's license. The driver, although not the registered owner, admitted to not having a valid license. Further investigation revealed the license he provided was expired.
During the stop, the deputy noticed several empty cigarillo wrappers and questioned the driver about marijuana use. Dunlap confessed to having marijuana in the vehicle and produced a plastic bag containing the substance. He then admitted to possessing cocaine.
Deputy Godwin arrived to assist and Dunlap was detained. A search of the vehicle uncovered more suspected cocaine and marijuana. A family member arrived to take possession of the vehicle.
Dunlap was transported to Hopkins County Jail, where he was booked on charges related to the possession of cocaine and marijuana. The evidence, including approximately 2 grams of cocaine, was logged and tested positive for cocaine.
Dunlap remains in custody awaiting further legal proceedings.
