Suspect Apprehended After High-Speed Chase Ends in Royse City's Waterscape Neighborhood

For those who witnessed or were concerned about the police activity in the Waterscape neighborhood in Royse City on June 19, 2024, here is some information on what occurred. The incident is now concluded and there is no threat to the public.

On June 19, 2024, around 4:00 PM, the Royse City Police Department was dispatched to an assault in progress in the Lakewood Estates neighborhood. It was reported that a suspect had forced his way into a residence and was assaulting his estranged wife. As officers arrived on the scene, the suspect fled in a vehicle. Officers pursued the suspect, who began driving through residents’ yards to evade capture. The suspect then turned south on FM548, driving at a high rate of speed, lost control in a curve, and drove through two wooden fences into the backyard of a residence in the Waterscape neighborhood. The suspect then fled on foot.

RCPD and other law enforcement agencies began searching the area for the suspect. While officers were still in the area, a Waterscape resident called 911 around 6:30 PM to report a subject hiding in their backyard. Officers responded, located the suspect, and took him into custody without incident.

The female victim was not seriously injured. The suspect will be charged with family violence, evading arrest, and property damage. During the incident, the Royse City Police Department was assisted by the Rockwall County Sheriff’s Office, Fate DPS, Heath DPS, the Forney Police Department, and the Texas Department of Public Safety.
