Marshall Police Capture Suspect in Stolen Vehicle After High-Speed Chase

On Tuesday, June 18, 2024, patrol officers from the Marshall Police Department identified a vehicle reported stolen during an armed robbery in Arkansas. When officers attempted a felony traffic stop on US Hwy 59, the driver sped away, initiating a pursuit.

The chase was brief but intense, with the driver maneuvering through dense traffic and eventually into side streets. The pursuit ended at a dead end near Veterans and the railroad. The suspect then attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended by officers without any injuries to either the officers or the suspect.

The suspect was identified as 36-year-old Jason Vaszquez-Rivera of Little Rock, Arkansas. He faces charges including Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, Resisting Arrest, Evading Arrest or Detention with a Motor Vehicle, and Evading Arrest Detention.

"We’re grateful for the skill and professionalism of our officers, which prevented any injuries despite the suspect’s reckless actions.", said the Marshall Police Department in a statement.
