On Friday, May 31, 2024, multiple fire departments in Hunt County, including Quinlan Fire, Union Valley Fire, Tawakoni South Fire, and Cash Fire, swiftly responded to a structure fire on Big Oaks Drive in Quinlan.
Upon their arrival, the homeowner informed the responding units that the fire had been deliberately started, resulting in the complete destruction of their home.
The Hunt County Fire Marshal promptly arrived at the scene to commence an investigation. Following a thorough examination, the Fire Marshal apprehended 37-year-old Russell Walter Vandeloecht of Quinlan.
Vandeloecht was taken into custody and booked into the Hunt County Detention Center on charges of arson. His bond has been set at $50,000.
