Greenville High School Celebrates Outstanding Achievements of Valedictorian and Salutatorian

As the academic year draws to a close, Greenville High School is proud to announce the exceptional achievements of its valedictorian and salutatorian for the graduating class of 2024.

Valedictorian: Michael Adeluyi

Michael Adeluyi has been named Greenville High School’s Class of 2024 Valedictorian. Hailing from Ohio before moving to Greenville, Michael is the cherished son of Adeola Adeluyi and Trang Nguyen.

Michael's journey towards academic excellence began with a spark of curiosity nurtured by his family, leading him to explore the inner workings of remote-control helicopters and old computers during his childhood. His passion for robotics ignited during his fifth-grade years at Crockett Elementary School, and he flourished in the field ever since. Michael's achievements in robotics include multiple state championships and recognition at the VEX Robotics World Championship. Additionally, he has actively contributed to Key Club, Rotary Interact Club, and served as the National Honor Society president.

Throughout his high school career, Michael maintained the top rank in his class, earning the distinction of Superintendent Scholar every year. Notably, he was named a National Merit Finalist and was selected as a Gates Scholar, joining a prestigious cohort of scholars nationwide. Michael will pursue his passion for Computer Science at the University of Texas at Austin, propelled by the unwavering support of his family.

Salutatorian: Sebastian Gonzalez

Sebastian Gonzalez has been honored as the Salutatorian of the Greenville High School graduating class of 2024. A proud native of Greenville, Sebastian is the son of Rebeca Martinez and Candido Gonzalez.

Sebastian's academic journey began at Crockett Elementary School, where he discovered a passion for learning nurtured by dedicated educators. Throughout his high school years, Sebastian immersed himself in extracurricular activities, leaving an indelible mark in various domains. From his role as Drum Major of the Lion Pride Band to his leadership in the Iron Lions Solar Car Team, Sebastian showcased his diverse talents and commitment to excellence.

His dedication extended beyond academics to community service, where he served as Key Club president and mentored younger students through the PALs program. As a Superintendent Scholar, Sebastian maintained an impeccable academic record, receiving national recognition for his achievements. He will pursue a Bachelor of Music Education at Texas A&M University-Commerce, supported by the prestigious HC100 scholarship, with aspirations of making a significant impact in public education.
