On Thursday, a Paris Police officer apprehended a suspect following a chase involving a reported stolen vehicle. The incident occurred in the 6000 block of Clarksville St on US 271 South.
According to reports, the officer attempted to stop the stolen vehicle, which initially pulled over but then sped away as the officer exited his vehicle. The driver of the stolen vehicle drove recklessly, attempting to evade capture by passing other vehicles.
After a short pursuit, the driver eventually stopped and tried to exit the vehicle. The officer was able to apprehend the suspect, identified as Melissa Ann Waggoner, 21 years old, who was allegedly responsible for taking the vehicle.
Waggoner has been charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Evading Arrest in a Vehicle, and also had outstanding municipal warrants.
