Commerce Police Department responded to a distress call on April 16, 2024, at the 2500 block of Solomon Drive. Corporal Drozeski was dispatched to the scene where it was reported that a child had sustained serious injuries. Emergency services including Commerce Fire and American Medical Response were summoned to assist.
Upon arrival, medical personnel observed a child with severe head injuries. The child was transported to Hunt County Regional Emergency Room in Commerce for treatment.
Subsequent investigation by Detective Sergeant Lucas concluded that 30-year-old Shitavia Dasha Crow was responsible for the child's injuries.
A warrant was issued for her arrest, and Mrs. Crow voluntarily surrendered herself to the Commerce Police Department. She faces charges of Injury to a Child Reckless with Serious Bodily Injury and Interference with Emergency Telephone Call. Mrs. Crow's total bond for the charges amounts to $80,000.
