A child abuser is behind bars after an investigation by the Texarkana Police Department, Texarkana ISD Police Department and Child Protective Services.
The investigation began after a child made an outcry to a school teacher about being sexually assaulted by 45-year-old Alberto Cucul. The abuse was over a period of several years.
Due to the ongoing investigation, the relationship between Cucul and the child as well as other details are not available. However, Texarkana officials had enough evidence that resulted in a judge issuing a warrant for Cucul's arrest for Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child.
With the help of Homeland Security Investigations, Cucul was located and arrested last week. He was extradited back to Texas on April 12, 2024 and is now incarcerated at the Bi-State jail.
