Collision Involving Crandall Police Unit Highlights Road Safety Concerns

Early Monday morning, on March 25, 2024, a concerning incident unfolded on the bridge of westbound W. U.S. Hwy 175 at F.M. 148, prompting Crandall Police Officers into action.

Responding to an accident scene, law enforcement officials were compelled to close both lanes of traffic until the involved vehicles could be cleared. To manage the situation and maintain westbound traffic flow, a Crandall Officer strategically positioned their vehicle approximately 2 miles east of the accident site, directing vehicles to exit onto F.M. 148 onto the service road.

However, amidst their efforts to ensure safety, the unexpected occurred. Another vehicle traveling westbound collided with the stationary Crandall unit, causing substantial damage to both vehicles. Fortunately, the officer was not inside the vehicle at the time of impact, and the driver of the other vehicle reportedly sustained no major injuries.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of exercising caution while driving, especially during adverse weather conditions. Motorists are urged to remain vigilant and refrain from distractions that could divert their attention from the road.

Authorities emphasize the necessity of adhering to safety protocols and maintaining focus to prevent such accidents in the future.
