Texas A&M-Commerce and Incarnate Word Players Suspended After Basketball Brawl

Following a violent brawl that erupted between college basketball players during a handshake line, four athletes from each team involved, Texas A&M - Commerce and Incarnate Word, have been suspended from games due to "flagrant unsportsmanlike actions." The suspensions were handed down by the Southland Conference.

The suspended players from Texas A&M - Commerce are Jerome Brewer Jr, Kwo Agwa, and Ant Abraham, each facing a three-game suspension, while Prince Davies received a one-game suspension. From Incarnate Word, Elijah Davis faces a three-game suspension, while Alex Anderson, Gabe Beny Til, and Marcus Glover each received a two-game suspension.

In a joint statement released by the colleges, it was emphasized that such behavior has no place in college sports.

Southland commissioner Chris Grant echoed this sentiment, stating, "The Southland Conference Board of Directors has set clear expectations for sportsmanship and behavior of our student-athletes, coaches, and spectators during and after competitions. Unfortunately, these expectations were not met on Monday night, and the Southland Conference will not tolerate any unsportsmanlike behavior. I would like to extend our appreciation to A&M-Commerce Athletics Director Jim Curry and [Incarnate Word] Athletics Director Richard Duran for their unwavering partnership and diligent resolution of this matter."
