On National Signing Day, four standout athletes from Sulphur Springs High School made their college commitments official.
Brady Driver, a 6'0" tall, 200 lb, quarterback and named the most valuable player in District 8-4A, Division 1 last season, has inked his letter of intent with Lamar University in Beaumont. Lamar competes in FCS football within the Southland Conference. Talking about his recruiting class which includes Driver, Lamar Coach Rossomando said, "These guys definitely pass the eye test, more importantly, they're exactly what we wanted from a human being standpoint, and they can play. They bring good size to the position and we found out in those tough conference games last year how much size matters."
Austin Chaney, a formidable defensive back for the Wildcats and a first-team all-district player, has chosen to continue his football career at Texas A&M-Commerce. A&M-Commerce is another member of the competitive Southland Conference.
Braxton Wall, known for his prowess as a linebacker for the Wildcats and earning recognition as a second-team all-district player, has opted to sign with the Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla, Missouri. The university competes in NCAA Division 2 athletics as part of the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
Garrett Robinson, a standout forward for the Wildcats' soccer team, has taken a unique route by signing with FC Odisea. FC Odisea is a respected soccer club based in Castellon, Spain, competing in the Primera Regional league under the umbrella of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).
