In a move to enhance healthcare accessibility in East Texas, CHRISTUS Health has revealed plans for the development of a new HealthPark campus in Mount Pleasant. The expansion will feature a freestanding emergency department and a CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic location.
Chris Glenney, Senior Vice President for Group Operations at CHRISTUS Northeast Texas, expressed the organization's commitment to increasing healthcare access in the region. Glenney stated, "Mount Pleasant is an area we really want to grow in, and we know there is a need for patients to access our health system and the exceptional health care we provide."
Over the past few years, CHRISTUS Health has extended patient access in various Northeast Texas communities, including Athens, Atlanta, Canton, Gladewater, Henderson, Kilgore, Lindale, Longview, Marshall, Palestine, Sulphur Springs, Texarkana, Tyler, and Winnsboro.
The Mount Pleasant project involves acquiring land at the intersection of Tankersley Road and Interstate 30, adjacent to Toyota of Mount Pleasant and Lowe's. The new HealthPark campus will comprise a single-story building exceeding 30,000 square feet, a freestanding emergency department, 12 provider medical offices, diagnostic imaging and testing, a lab, and a physical and occupational therapy center. Additionally, the campus will reserve space for potential future expansion projects.
CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic, already serving Mount Pleasant in interventional cardiology, will establish its first primary care clinic in the area as part of the HealthPark project. Dr. Jay Cannon will lead the primary care clinic.
Dr. Brent Wadle, Vice President of Physician Operations at CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic, expressed excitement about becoming a part of the Mount Pleasant community. He highlighted the substantial access provided by Trinity Clinic, with over 600 physicians and nearly 360 nurse practitioners and physician assistants across Northeast Texas.
The project is expected to create more than 50 full-time positions for CHRISTUS Associates, including registered nurses, radiology and lab technicians, physical therapists, and medical assistants. Construction is set to commence in approximately 120 days, with completion targeted for the end of 2025, according to Glenney.
