Sulphur Springs ISD Announces Child Find Process for Special Education Services

Sulphur Springs Independent School District (SSISD) is actively engaged in the Child Find process, a federally and state-mandated initiative to identify, locate, and evaluate all students from birth through age 21 within the district who may be in need of special education and related services. This includes children with disabilities attending private schools, those who are homeless, and children who are wards of the state.

The Child Find process is an annual and ongoing effort to ensure that the community is aware of the special services available through SSISD. Referrals for Child Find can be made by parents/guardians, doctors, teachers, relatives, or friends who have concerns about a child's learning.

Individuals with concerns about a child's development or learning are encouraged to contact the SSISD Special Programs Director, Lyndsay Anderson, at 903-885-6230, extension 1300, or any administrator within SSISD. Additional information can be found on the school website at www.ssisd.net.

For children from birth to 36 months, referrals can be made directly to Lakes Regional Community Center- Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) at 903-454-0300.

SSISD encourages community members to utilize these resources to help ensure that all children in need within the district receive the appropriate support and services.
