The body of a Pollok man who went missing from his boat on Kurth Lake in East Texas, near Lufkin, has been recovered. Clay Thomas Legg, 64, was found deceased in the lake on Wednesday, April 23rd, following a search that began around 1 p.m.
Emergency responders, including the Angelina County Sheriff’s Office, Lufkin Police, Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office, Nacogdoches Fire Dive Team, Lufkin Fire Department, and Texas Parks and Wildlife Game Wardens, launched a search after Legg’s boat was discovered unoccupied in a cove. Rescue boats and drones were deployed, and divers located Legg’s body not far from his boat.
Preliminary autopsy results indicate the cause of death was drowning, and no foul play is suspected at this time. Pct. 4 Justice of the Peace Rodney Cheshire ordered the autopsy.
Lufkin Police acknowledged and thanked the collaborative efforts of all responding agencies and Ross Motor Sports, who provided a boat and electronic equipment to aid in the search.
