Carthage Police Chief Blake Smith reported that on April 17, 2025, at approximately 7:45 PM, the FBI contacted him regarding a threat made against a local Carthage daycare.
Chief Smith was informed about a video posted on a social media platform that featured a local daycare with alarming text overlaid on it. The Carthage Police Department immediately launched an investigation, treating the matter with utmost seriousness.
The investigation revealed that the suspect responsible for the threatening video was a juvenile, who was subsequently taken into custody.
The Carthage Police Department expressed gratitude to the Panola County District Attorney and Juvenile Probation for their assistance in the investigation. The case will now be referred to the District Attorney and Juvenile Probation for prosecution.
