Drone Assists in Locating Erratic Man in Paris

On Thursday, April 17, 2025, at approximately 9:25 P.M., the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call regarding a male subject in a backyard in the 3500 block of 1497 who had been seen jumping over a neighbor’s fence.

Dispatch had previously received numerous calls by the Paris Police Department about a man matching the same description lying in the roadway and walking into traffic earlier in the evening on South Church Street near the Cefco, which is located a short distance from FM 1497.

Upon arrival at the residence on FM 1497, Lamar County deputies contacted the homeowners, who suspected the individual might be their adult son. However, the man had already left the property again.

The Lamar County Sheriff’s Office drone team was deployed to assist in the search, along with Detectives, Paris Police officers, Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers, and Lamar County Emergency Management personnel. Utilizing the drone technology, the subject was successfully located.

The individual was subsequently taken to Paris Regional Health for treatment.

Lamar County Sheriff expressed his appreciation for the use of the drone resources, stating, “I commend my deputies for utilizing the Sheriff’s drone resources to locate this individual quickly and safely. This individual was a resident of this area. I want to thank the citizens who reported him on the roadway. Because of this, the subject received the help he needed.”
