The Commerce Police Department is asking for the public's help in locating Avean Dejuan Jones in connection with a drive-by shooting and a person with a gun incident that occurred on or about March 15, 2025.
On March 15, at approximately 12:02 PM, officers responded to a drive-by shooting in the 800 block of Culver Street, where one person was injured and hospitalized. Investigators quickly identified a suspect vehicle in this shooting.
Later that same day, at approximately 3:40 PM, officers responded to a report of a person with a gun at the city park. In this instance, a different suspect vehicle was identified.
While searching the area, officers located both suspect vehicles at the same location on Washington Street in Commerce. Search warrants were obtained for a residence and both vehicles, leading to the discovery of evidence.
Based on the investigation, arrest warrants were issued for Jaxyson Grant of Greenville and Avean Dejuan Jones of Commerce for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and deadly conduct. Grant turned himself in on March 23, 2025.
Authorities are now seeking Avean Dejuan Jones, who is currently at large. A reward of up to one thousand dollars is being offered for information leading to his capture.
