Authorities safely disarmed a suspected explosive device found at a residence in the 15700 block of Willow Grove Road, north of Temple, on Sunday, March 30, 2025.
The Bell County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call just before 2:30 p.m. from the family of a deceased individual who had discovered what they believed to be an explosive device at the residence.
Due to the nature of the discovery, the Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) was contacted for assistance. An ATF Task Force Investigator from the McLennan County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene.
The residence is located in a rural area with widely spaced homes. As a precaution, all affected neighbors were notified of the incident.
An explosive technician successfully rendered the device safe.
