On March 11, 2025, a multi-day operation involving multiple drug task forces and the FBI led to the interception of a large methamphetamine shipment intended for the Texarkana area, as well as the seizure of three pounds of meth and the arrest of a Hope, Arkansas man.
The operation began on February 28th, when the 8th South Drug Task Force gathered intelligence regarding a shipment of methamphetamine coming into the community from California. In response, the 8th South, 8th North, and 9th West Drug Task Forces, in coordination with the local FBI office, initiated a joint investigation aimed at intercepting the narcotics.
On March 5th, investigators identified the location of the delivery, leading to the execution of a search warrant at the residence of Prince Thomas in Hope, Arkansas. During the search, authorities seized 12 pounds of methamphetamine.
Further investigation revealed another shipment of methamphetamine was en route to the Texarkana area. On March 11th, the 8th South Drug Task Force and FBI worked together to intercept the shipment, recovering 3 pounds of meth and $2,310 in drug money. Anthony Thomas, also from Hope, Arkansas, was arrested in connection with the shipment.
The success of these operations highlights the positive impact of the 8th South Drug Task Force on local communities, as they continue to combat the spread of illegal narcotics. Law enforcement officials, including Chief Ed Chattaway, Sheriff Wayne Easley, Sheriff Jeff Black, and Prosecutor Connie Mitchell, expressed their ongoing support for the task force’s efforts to keep communities safe.
