A wanted felon identified as Mark A. Thomas of Wills Point was arrested on March 10, 2025, after deputies with the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office stopped him in a stolen vehicle.
Deputy J. Cortez initially took a stolen vehicle report and, through investigation, identified Thomas as the suspect. Cortez and Deputy D. Bible tracked Thomas to a known location and, with additional deputies, stopped the stolen vehicle when Thomas drove by.
Thomas was arrested for theft, and a search of the vehicle revealed suspected methamphetamine. Further investigation showed Thomas was also wanted by State Pardons and Parole for a felony warrant related to Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
Thomas was booked into the Van Zandt County Detention Center on three felony charges: Theft, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and the outstanding warrant. He is currently being held without bond.
The investigation is ongoing.
