On March 8, 2025, at approximately 11:22 p.m., Longview police responded to a report of suspicious activity in the 700 block of Lincoln Drive, which was updated to a vehicle burglary in progress before officers arrived.

Upon arrival, officers confirmed a vehicle had been burglarized and began searching the area. They located a suspect inside a second vehicle on Kenwood Drive. When officers attempted to detain him, the suspect fled on foot.

After a brief chase, officers caught up to the suspect and attempted to place him into custody, unaware that he was armed. During the struggle, the suspect fired a handgun, striking one officer. Other officers immediately provided first aid and called for Longview Fire EMS.

The injured officer was transported to a local hospital with injuries that appear to be non-life-threatening. The suspect was taken into custody at the scene and is facing multiple charges.
