A single-vehicle crash on Interstate 20 resulted in an SUV rolling off the roadway after the driver experienced a tire blowout.
The incident occurred when the driver, a college student, lost control of her SUV following the blowout. The vehicle veered off the road and rolled over. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, and although the driver appeared to be in stable condition, she was transported to a hospital for further evaluation and observation.
According to initial reports, the affected tire had shown signs of losing air pressure before the incident, though the exact cause of the failure remains unknown. Multiple bystanders stopped to assist the driver and remained with her until emergency personnel arrived.
Mesquite Police Officer M. Soto, who is in the final phase of training, conducted the accident investigation. Officer Soto also contacted the driver’s out-of-town parents to provide information about their daughter’s condition and the status of her vehicle.
The Kilgore Police Department urges drivers to check their tires regularly for wear and proper inflation, especially as many prepare for spring break travel.
