A juvenile suspect was taken into custody Tuesday morning after allegedly entering Signature Aviation at 601 Airport Dr. armed with both a rifle and a handgun, demanding a plane.
According to the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department (TAPD), 911 dispatch received a call at approximately 7:35 a.m. on February 4, 2025, reporting a disturbance involving an armed individual. Witnesses stated that the suspect entered the business, approached the front counter, and brandished the weapons while making demands. As the situation unfolded, an employee fled and alerted others before the suspect exited the building.
A pilot for a local private business, upon learning of the situation, retrieved his own firearm from his vehicle and confronted the suspect outside. The pilot ordered the suspect to the ground, where he complied and was disarmed. TAPD officers arrived shortly after and took the juvenile into custody without further incident.
The suspect was arrested on charges of Aggravated Assault, Attempted Aggravated Robbery, and Terroristic Threatening 1st Degree. He was transported to an Arkansas juvenile detention center.
TAPD commended the actions of the local pilot, emphasizing that his intervention helped de-escalate a dangerous situation and led to a swift, peaceful resolution.
