On Wednesday, January 22, 2025, East Texas A&M University Police officers responded to a report of trespassing on campus. Upon arrival, officers located the suspect, who fled on foot when approached.
After a brief pursuit, officers apprehended the individual, later identified as Gary Dewatne Bundred, Jr., of Lancaster. He initially refused to identify himself but was later confirmed by authorities. During the arrest, officers discovered Bundred was in possession of marijuana.
Bundred was transported to the Hunt County Detention Center, where he was charged with Criminal Trespass, Failure to Identify by Giving False Information, Evading Arrest or Detention, and Possession of Marijuana under 2 ounces. His bond was set at $10,500.
