Arlington Man Arrested After Traffic Stop on I-30 in Sulphur Springs

On Wednesday, January 15, at approximately 8:28 PM, a Sulphur Springs Police officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling along I-30 for a traffic violation.

Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer reported detecting a strong odor of marijuana emanating from inside. The driver, identified as 32-year-old Angel Rene Enriquez of Arlington, complied with the officer’s instructions and exited the vehicle.

During a probable cause search, officers discovered drug paraphernalia and a firearm behind the driver’s seat. A subsequent records check revealed that the firearm had been reported stolen in a previous case.

Enriquez was taken into custody and transported to the Hopkins County Jail. He is charged with Theft of a Firearm.
