On Thursday, January 16, Paris Police officers responded to the 200 block of SE 13th Street to serve an outstanding warrant on 21-year-old Leeandra Aynea Morris.
Upon arrival, officers confirmed Morris’s presence at the residence through a family member. When officers informed Morris of the warrant, she began resisting arrest, swinging her arms to avoid being handcuffed. During the struggle, Morris struck a family member in the face and mouth, causing injuries.
Morris also kicked the arresting officer in the torso before being subdued and handcuffed. She was charged with the original warrant for Assault to a Family Member, Resisting Arrest, and a second charge of Assault to a Family Member for the injuries caused during the incident.
Morris was transported to the Paris Police Department and booked into custody.
